Biography: Colville Bradner II first married Julianna Denton, Daughter of Samuel Denton and Sarah Ludlum, grand-daughter of Isaac Ludlum and Catherine Gale. She had two daughters, Christian and Sara, who are mentioned in her father's will. Julianna was born on January 3, 1754. He married his second wife Anna Benedict (Smith) Anna Benedict Bradner later married Gideon Smith of Stockbridge, Mass (d. Mar 7, 1838) and they removed to Mass.  Born July 25, 1747, died November 7, 1839. She is buried in Old School Baptist burying ground in Warwick, N.Y. Colville Bradner II is buried in the now dooryard of the Henry A. Benedict farm at Wisner, N.Y. and his first wife is buried there (reported by Laura Bradner).

His will was made Feb. 17, 1802 and proven March 29, 1802. The following bequests are found in his will: John, the red house, and 250 acres; James, new house and 250 acres, Benjamin, the stone house and 75 acres; Colville, the homestead and 25 acres, and also the stipulation he should keep or provide for his mother during her life and divide L100 between his five younger children, Julia, Mary, Margaret, Coe and Samuel.

Jan. 3, 1754), dau. of Samuel Denton and Sarah Ludlum. Sarah Ludlum was the dau. of Isaac Ludlum and Catherine Gale. Children: 1) Christian Bradner (b. Apr. 11, 1770 ; d. Nov. 23, 1834). Marr. John Vandervoort (b. Jan. 22, 1769). 2) Sarah Bradner - marr. Joseph Minthorn. Colville Bradner's second wife was Anna Benedict, which has no relationship to this post. +++ Colville Bradner Ludlum (b. Oct. 28, 1789 ; d. Mar. 26, 1851) marr. Julia Denton (b. 1812 ; d. Apr. 7, 1858). Child was Louise Ludlum. The parents of Colville Bradner Ludlum were Christian Bradner (b. 1753 ; d. July 9, 1824) and Benjamin Ludlum (marr. on Jan. 27, 1783). +++ Julia Gale (b. 1792 ; d. 1835) marr. Richard S. Denton (b. 1790 ; d. 1864). Children: 1) Julia Denton - marr. Dr. Coursin 2) Smith Denton. On the death of Julia, Richard S. Denton marr. 2) Betsey Smith. Julia Gale was the dau. of Abigail Bradner (b. July 4, 1772 ; d. Jan. 24, 1835) and John Gale (b. Nov. 21, 1769 ; d. Feb. 24, 1818). Marriage was on Dec. 31, 1791. Christian Bradner was dau. of Colville Bradner Sr. (above) +++ Dr. James Bradner (b. 1759 ; d. July 31, 1823) at Chester, NY marr. 1) Sarah Denton (b. Aug. 13, 1768 ; d. Jan. 13, 1816), dau. of Thomas Denton and Phoebe Hall. Phoebe Hall was the dau. of Daniel & Abigail Hall. NO children. +++ Colville (Colvin) Bradner (son of Benjamin Bradner, gr. son of Colville Bradner Sr.)- b. Dec. 23, 1791 ; d. Apr. 3, 1840. On Dec, 22, 1818 marr. Sarah Denton (b. July 9, 1794 ; d. Mar. 26, 1862), Children: 1) Mary Bradner - bapt. Oct. 31, 1819 - Goshen. 2) Lois Bradner - bapt. May 4, 1822 - Goshen. 3) John Denton Bradner - bapt. May 1, 1823 - Goshen. Unmarried. 4) Sarah Bradner - b. 1835. On Dec. 13, 1865 marr. Henry Tusten Van Duzer, son of John Van Duzer and Margaret Jennings. 5) Elizabeth Bradner - b. 1838.

Biography: Martha Bradner Burt was born in 1748. She married Daniel Burt on January 25, 1770. Daniel Burt was born on October 20, 1740 in Ridgefield, CT; and died on July 5, 1823 in Oswego, NY.  Martha died in Oswego, NY in 1818.

Biography: Christian Bradner Ludlum was born in 1753 and died on July 9, 1824. She married Benjamin Ludlum on January 27, 1783 in First Presb Church, Goshen, Orange, NY.

Biography: Margaret Bradner Conkling was born on January 26, 1756 and died on July 23, 1820. She married Nathaniel Conkling on June 5, 1788 in The First Presbyterian Church, Goshen, NY.  Nathaniel was born on September 26, 1761 and died on October 22, 1812.

Biography: John Bradner was born in 1765 and died in June 1814 in Oswego, NY.  John married Susan(nah) Bottom around 1795 in Goshen, Orange, NY.

This is the John Bradner who appeared to be the John Bradner of Pittsylvania, VA. It has been determined that the John Bradner, son of Colville Bradner Sr. did NOT leave NY State. Edition #2 of the Bradner Genealogy is therefore 'IN ERROR" in this respect. The origin of the John Bradner of Pittsylvania is UNKNOWN as of this wrtiting.

1) LDS film of deeds - Jan 26, 1807 - John Bradner sells land in Gorham, NY to Bascom Whitney for $1500.
2) Surrogate Court Records for Ontario, NY dated June 14, 1814 - Susan Bradner, widow of John Bradner sets off her rights of dower to land sold to Bascom Whitney in #1 above.   The origin of this land unclear, BUT it may have originally belonged to Moses Bradner, cousin to the John Bradner above, and thus sold to John Bradner. Per Lillian Young (Bradner descendant of Moses Bradner), Moses sold all or part of his land in the southern part of Ontario Co (Gorham probably) and moved further north to Canandaigua, Ontario Co., NY.
3) 1813 - John Bradner grants land to Richard Wells - Ontario Co., NY

 

Also:

Susan Bradner, now a widow appears in the 1820 Oswego Co. census. She does NOT appear in the 1830 NY census, and has either died or remarried.  As further proof of the marriage of John Bradner and Susan Bottom, we turn to the following: REF: 'Landmarks of Oswego Co., NY', ed. by John C. Churchill, LLD, Syracuse NY. 1895. Part III. Family sketches.
PP 307, 308; Bradner, Frank J ---- the ancestry of the subject is Scotch and his grandfather on the paternal side was John Bradner, who was born near NY City and married Susan Bottom, a native of Poughkeepsie, NY. The grandfather on the maternal side was Joseph Spaids, who married Clarissa Jones.

John and Susan had 4 children:

 

 

Biography: Benjamin Bradner was born on October 13, 1769 and died on October 17, 1827. He married Mary Wickham on July 16, 1789 in First Presb Church, Goshen, Orange, NY.  Mary was born July 29, 1769 and died on February 26, 1845.

Biography: Elizabeth Bradner Drake married Daniel Drake.

Biography: Abigail Bradner was born on July 4, 1772 and died on January 24, 1835.  She married John Gale (b.11/21/1769 – d.02/24/1818) on 12/31/1791 in the First Presb Church, Goshen, Orange, NY.
